Description Stefan Nemeth 2022-08-16 13:10:59 UTC
Description of problem:

If there is a netowrk card which has upper case in its identifier, satellite always changes it to lower case in kickstart file making provisioning fail and bond not to come up

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

6.11

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.have interfaces like enP2s2091f0,enP1s2088f0
2.configure netoworking in satellite
3.provision the server
4. check its kickstart file

Actual results:

bondslaves=enp1s2088f0,enp2s2091f0

later in ks file

# enP2s2091f0 interface

# enP1s2088f0 interface

Expected results:

bondslaves=enp1s2088f0,enp2s2091f0

later in ks file

# enP2s2091f0 interface

# enP1s2088f0 interface

Additional info:

responsible code is

/usr/share/foreman/app/models/nic/with_attached_devices.rb

def attached_devices=(devices)
    devices = devices.split(SEPARATOR) if devices.is_a?(String)
    super(devices.map { |i| i.downcase.strip }.join(SEPARATOR))
  end

we should remove downcase from the code

Moving this bug to POST for triage into Satellite since the upstream issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/35377 has been resolved.

Comment 7 sganar 2022-09-14 09:58:58 UTC
Verified.

Tested on Satellite 6.12.0 Snap 10.0
