A vulnerability was found in the device-mapper-multipath. The device-mapper-multipath allows local users to obtain root access, in conjunction with CVE-2022-41974. Local users that are able to access /dev/shm can change symlinks in multipathd due to incorrect symlink handling, which may lead to controlled file writes outside of the /dev/shm directory. This could be used indirectly for local privilege escalation to root.

Is there a document on the CVE workflow? I was under the impression that bugs would also be created for the various releases of the device-mapper-multipath package, and those where what would be used to fix this issue. But as far as I can see, no other bugs have been created. I don't have access to Bug #2123895, whatever that is. With regards to what releases have these vulnerabilities, CVE-2022-AUTHZ exists in all supported versions of device-mapper-multipath. CVE-2022-SLINK exists in all versions of device-mapper-multipath starting with rhel-8.0. Created device-mapper-multipath tracking bugs for this issue: Affects: fedora-all [bug 2137414] This issue has been addressed in the following products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Via RHSA-2023:2459 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:2459 This issue has been addressed in the following products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Via RHSA-2023:2948 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:2948 This bug is now closed. Further updates for individual products will be reflected on the CVE page(s): https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2022-41973 This issue has been addressed in the following products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 Extended Update Support Via RHSA-2024:1110 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2024:1110 |
