Description Ondrej Gajdusek 2022-09-09 11:05:22 UTC
Description of problem:
Satellite can not be installed on RHEL 8.7 because satellite-common depends on ansible-core >= 2.12 and ansible-core < 2.13. RHEL 8.7 provides ansible-core-2.13.3-1.el8 only.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.11.3, possibly 6.12

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf module enable satellite
2. dnf install satellite

Actual results:
Satellite does not install due to a dependency issue.

Expected results:
Satellite installs successfully.

Comment 12 Ondrej Gajdusek 2022-10-12 16:36:53 UTC
I have found a deprecation warning that is shown in the playbook stdout. BZ2134166 filed.

VERIFIED
@Satellite 6.12.0 snap 14

I have successfully installed Satellite 6.12.0 on top of the latest RHEL 8.7 - RHEL-8.7.0-20221012.0.
I have also successfully ran Ansible roles on the host. There was a deprecation warning shown. See above.

# rpm -q python3-ansible-runner ansible-runner ansible-core satellite foreman rubygem-smart_proxy_ansible
python3-ansible-runner-1.4.7-1.el8ar.noarch
ansible-runner-1.4.7-1.el8ar.noarch
ansible-core-2.13.3-1.el8.x86_64
satellite-6.12.0-4.el8sat.noarch
foreman-3.3.0.17-1.el8sat.noarch
rubygem-smart_proxy_ansible-3.4.1-2.el8sat.noarch

Thanks!

I *think* the deprecation warning should already have been there on ansible-core 2.12, but either way it doesn't *really* matter today.
I'll comment on the BZ for some background info too.
