Comment 7 Sandro 2024-12-17 10:07:13 UTC
Release 1.6.0 added support for NumPy 2.x. Current release is broken in rawhide:

>>> import pywt
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<python-input-0>", line 1, in <module>
    import pywt
  File "/usr/lib64/python3.13/site-packages/pywt/__init__.py", line 15, in <module>
    from ._extensions._pywt import *
  File "pywt/_extensions/_pywt.pyx", line 1, in init pywt._extensions._pywt
ValueError: numpy.dtype size changed, may indicate binary incompatibility. Expected 96 from C header, got 88 from PyObject

It needs a rebuild against NumPy 2.x.

Comment 8 Sandro 2025-01-04 12:36:28 UTC
It would be helpful to get `pywt` updated to version 1.6.0. This will unblock `scikit-image`, which itself is blocking a bunch of other packages.

I'm aware this bug might have been fallen victim to the end of year holiday period. I suggest allowing for another two weeks with the need info flag set before considering other options.

Thank you, Orion!

Comment 10 Sandro 2025-01-12 09:05:16 UTC
Reopening and removing blockers. Package was updated to 1.6.0, solving the build issue as well as the rebuild against NumPy 2.x. But this bug is tracking the latest release, which is not yet in rawhide.

This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.
