Description kramo 2022-09-26 22:41:05 UTC
Description of problem:
In GNOME, the animations of the Time of Day background for Fedora 37 (f37.xml) transition from black to their resulting images instead of transitioning from one image to the other.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
f37-backgrounds-gnome-37.0.0-1.fc37.noarch

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set the system time to between 6 AM/PM and 8 AM/PM
2. Set the desktop background to Fedora 37 Time of Day

Actual results:
Between 6 AM/PM and 8 AM/PM the background is in a transitional state between pure black and the resulting image (day/night).

Expected results:
Between 6 AM/PM and 8 AM/PM the background should be in a transitional state between the original image (night/day) and the resulting image (day/night).

Additional info:
Does not happen with the f36 wallpaper. Can reproduce on a fresh install.
Potentially related to Bug 2064980

Hello login,

Thank you for the report. The time of day wallpaper for Fedora 37 will be hidden by default on GNOME desktop due to upstream change. Nevertheless, it will be still available under /usr/share/backgrounds/f37/default. A fix will be present on the next release.
