Description Michael Cronenworth 2022-09-29 12:17:13 UTC
Description of problem: The F37 update for 6.0.8 seems to have been overlooked.

F38 / Rawhide = 6.0.8
F37 = 6.0.7
F36 = 6.0.8
F35 = 6.0.8

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dotnet6.0-6.0.107-2.fc37

Additional info:
I would have pushed the update myself but this appears to be a protected package that proven packagers cannot touch. If appropriate I would not mind assisting with this package If I could become a co-maintainer.

Hi!

Thanks for reporting this.

> The F37 update for 6.0.8 seems to have been overlooked.

Actually, I am just having lots of trouble getting it to build on Fedora 37. For a while, glibc was broken: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2126522

I tried another build a few days ago (https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=92356322) and that one failed with errors like this:

      /builddir/build/BUILD/dotnet-v6.0.108/src/runtime/artifacts/source-build/self/src/src/coreclr/vm/amd64/unixstubs.cpp:24:10: error: definition of builtin function '__cpuidex'
          void __cpuidex(int cpuInfo[4], int function_id, int subFunction_id)

I guess someone needs to debug this, because I haven't seen this error before :(

> this appears to be a protected package that proven packagers cannot touch

Hm. I have no idea how that happened. Do you know where I can mark it as "not protected"? I have seen releng make some rebuild commit/builds and I just assumed it was open to proven packagers too.

> If appropriate I would not mind assisting with this package If I could become a co-maintainer.

Sure! If you can fix the build, I would happily merge those fixes either way. If you really want to become a co-maintainer, that's fantastic!

There's an upstream patch to support clang 15 (Fedora 37).

https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/commit/992cf8c97cc71d4ca9a0a11e6604a6716ed4cefc

It does not appear to have made it into 6.0.9. I've modified it to apply to 6.0 and a scratch build is currently successful on x86_64 with it.

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=92422839

You'll see in the scratch build there is a s390x specific issue that upstream has another patch for that I am tweaking to apply against 6.0. I'll let you know if I get a successful build.

Disregard my note about the package being "protected" as I was just able to successfully push on a second attempt to git. I was rejected by a git hook on my first attempt. Just a typical Fedora git fluke...

Thanks!

Comment 4 Michael Cronenworth 2022-09-29 23:38:36 UTC
Scratch build was a success for all arches.

I'll prep Rawhide and F37 updates.
