Description yzheng 2022-11-18 02:01:08 UTC
Description of problem:

One of my customer found that he cannot use this customized desktop shortcut to access the web site:

~/Desktop/redhat.desktop
~~~
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=RedHat
Type=Link
URL=https://www.redhat.com/
Icon=text-html
~~~

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

RHEL 8.7 GA

gnome-desktop3-3.32.2-1.el8.x86_64
gnome-shell-3.32.2-48.el8.x86_64

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

I can reproduce it on my test VM.

I also found if I used the 'application' type, everything is OK:

~/Desktop/redhat.desktop
~~~
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=RedHat
Type=Application
Exec=firefox --new-window https://www.redhat.com/
Icon=text-html
~~~

Expected results:

The 'Link' type takes the effect.

Additional info:

Have I make some mistakes here?

Thank you.
