Description Paul Thrower 2006-11-09 15:51:58 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

Description of problem:
I'm logged into the FC5 box via an Exceed X-term session on a Windows XP box.

I was using 'system-config-printer' (system-config-printer-0.6.151.8-1) to add the first print que on the system.
(Launched with 'system-config-printer &' at the X-term prompt)

I added it as 'Networked Directjet', specifing the FQDN of the printer and port #9100 as the 'address'.
It was added as a 'PCL 5 Printer', ending up with driver 'gimp-print-ijs' (the "recommended driver", it seems).
The que is NOT shared via the network.

No errors were reported by 'system-config-printer', and a test page printed fine.

The xterm shell session used to launch 'system-config-printer' now shows :-

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch system-config-printer via X as above
2. Delete print que to this printer
3. Exit and re-launch system-config-printer via X as above
3. Re-create que as required.

Actual Results:

Expected Results:
I wasn't expecting to be asked to report bugs :-)

Additional info:
Nothing special.
I'll admit to being a bit of a newbie here. The machine seems fine otherwise.
No 'updates' are pending according to 'yum check-update', so I guess I'm up to date :-)
Machine is a Dell Optiplex GX270 (256M phys. RAM), with network connectivity provided by the onboard NIC as eth0. There are to other NICs fitted in the PCI slots (eth1, eth2), but these are set to 'inactive' and not used at the moment.

Comment 1 Tim Waugh 2006-12-07 11:47:41 UTC
Is that printer a Canon GP 405?

I would be interested in the output of '/usr/sbin/lpinfo -l -v'.
