Description of problem:

X freezes using xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.3-1.fc7

startx


Steps to Reproduce:
1.log in
2.startx
3.
  
Actual results:
x freezes


Expected results:
I have a GUI


Additional info:
Have been happily running rawhide ati driver until updating to this version.
Using the vesa driver works.
system-config-display works and correctly identifies the radeon card.

(01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600]


(Will attach Xorg.0.log when using ati driver)

If you add alias radeon off to your modprobe.conf file, does X work again for you?

Wonder how similar your prob is to this bug:

Craig, can we get also you /etc/X11/xorg.conf attached to this bug, please?
Also, if you can try to run Xorg without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf whatsoever (it
should automagically detect whatever is needed) and attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log
as well.

Sorry for the delay...new, better job eating all my time :)

I no longer have rawhide on that box, it's fc6. I waited until _after_ fc6 was
released to update knowing I had filed this. However, I thought for sure this
issue had just slipped through and I wanted/needed my machine. 

Would a xen rawhide guest be adequate to test from (same box/hardware)? if not,
I suppose just closing this is best...sorry for the noise.
