Description gwstern 2023-01-07 03:21:08 UTC
Description of problem:

Been using the same configuration for at least a year and Fedora 33-36 with no issues.

I've got a nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 on AMD Ryzen.

Recently updated to Fedora 37 (6.0.16-300.fc37.x86_64). Have all the latest drivers (12.525.60.11). The problem I'm having is the screen isn't refreshing properly. Moving windows, for example, shows in the original position and overlayed with the new position. If I wait for a couple of seconds the screen refreshes and fixes itself. Pretty much makes the screen on the portable useless.

Interestingly enough, my connected monitors are fine - just the one on the portable.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

See above

How reproducible:

Happens all the time on my system.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bring up desktop
2. Start working
3.

Actual results:

The screen doesn't seem to clear/refresh properly and I see (for lack of a better word) ghosts where the previous screens/apps were. Sometimes the screen resets and looks correct and sometimes it simply gets worse until the screen is unusable and I have to move to my connected monitors

Expected results:

Screen refreshes properly/no ghosts

Additional info:

I've gone through nvautoinstall, nvidia-settings, and about everything else I can think of. Given my settings/configuration has worked since Fedora 33 I assume (yeah, dangerous) it's something specific to Fedora 37

It's also not consistent. For example, right now the monitor on my portable is just fine - no refresh/ghosting problems. Yesterday, the monitor on my portable was completely unusable because of the refresh/ghosting.

No suggestions? It's real bloody annoying and if it wasn't for the external monitor would make Fedora completely useless.

If anyone needs more configuration or system details let me know.

Well, I just updated to 6.1.6-200 but I still have the problem. I've noticed the following behavior:
   1) If I select 'Activities' in the corner the screen clears and displays the activities just fine, however the screen goes weird when the activities is left
   2) If I leave the screen up and running for a couple of hours it slowly becomes usable - not fixed, just barely useable.

Just updated to the latest: 6.1.7-200 and if anything it's getting worse.

Just updated to Fedora 38 and my portable screen (my main screen) is unusable.
