Does the X server consume significantly more CPU with the nv driver than with nvidia? If so we might be able to address this (but unlikely); if it's that the nvidia driver is enabling some magical power management bits that we don't know about, then this is basically a CANTFIX. No, CPU load is not affected. Perhaps this problem is something the nouveau project could also be interested in? Since this bugzilla report was filed, there have been several major updates, which may have resolved this issue. Users who have experienced this problem are encouraged to upgrade their system to the latest version of their distribution available. Please, if you experience this problem on the up-to-date system, let us now in the comment for this bug, or whether the upgraded system works for you. If you won't be able to reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you. Tried with F8Test3 live CD, the problem still happens. When running from Live CD, do you have any /var/log/Xorg.0.log to attach to this bug? I think it could be something in /tmp/*log*. My testing led to nowhere, there is something bad with the computer itself. Closing as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. My testing led to nowhere, there is something bad with the computer itself.
