Description Éric Fintzel 2023-01-24 14:26:28 UTC
Description of problem:

When the current Rawhide images are validated on POWER LPARs, the following GRUB error is now raised at boot:

error: ../../grub-core/kern/misc.c:500:unrecognized number.

It seems a modification occurred during the second half of December 2022, because images were functional before.

Tested on POWER P9 and P10 LPARs with Server dvd and netinst images.

Actual results:

Current Fedora Rawhide images do not boot on POWER LPARs.

Expected results:

They should be bootable, as before.

Screenshot of the GRUB error.

As an attachment, a screenshot of the GRUB error.
The error occurs at boot time when entering GRUB, and shows no matter if you try to edit the boot line or not.

Feel free to provide me a quick and dirty ISO images (i.e even not fully functional) just to validate GRUB works as expected. I can check such an images on our LPARs systems.

seems bugs #2092475 and #2091141 look very similar/same ...

Comment 4 Robbie Harwood 2023-02-02 23:03:13 UTC
I believe this is resolved on current rawhide. Please reopen if not the case.
