Description of problem:

If ~/.Xdefaults exists but gnome-settings-daemon can't access it, it will crash.

% rpm -qf /usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon
control-center-2.16.0-11.el5.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. touch ~/.Xdefaults
2. chmod 000 ~/.Xdefaults
3. log in to a new gnome session
  
Actual results:
A dialog box telling the user that his session may not work as expected.

This bug/component is not included in scope for RHEL-5.11.0 which is the last RHEL5 minor release. This Bugzilla will soon be CLOSED as WONTFIX (at the end of RHEL5.11 development phase (Apr 22, 2014)).
