Description Dean Hunter 2023-02-08 22:03:45 UTC
Description of problem:
With Gnome Maps I can see relatively new streets in the Houston Texas area, but drilling into the detail does not show buildings on those streets built in the last 30 years. Search can not find their street addresses. Can you update the address data to match the streets?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
43.2

How reproducible:
Consistent

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Search for 1941 East Road, Houston
2.
3.

Actual results:
Nothing found

Expected results:
Find an address in the Medical Center

Additional info:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-maps/-/issues/537

Examining the Open Street Map site referenced in the GNOME issue above, the addresses can be found but building outlines are missing. Why included a product in your distribution that is not useful in this way?

Comment 1 Kalev Lember 2023-08-04 12:26:49 UTC
I don't think this is anything we can solve downstream. I see that https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-maps/-/issues/537 was closed with reference to needing to update openstreetmap data, and I'd like to close this ticket with the same conclusion as well.
