Budgie Spin

Comment 1 Ahmed Almeleh 2023-02-15 22:50:43 UTC
Failure of the "https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_desktop_browser testcase"

Failure of the "https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Basic_Release_Criteria#required-applications" release criterion

Could we propose this as FE as it's not release blocking but still could be a nice to have for budgie spin users?

Comment 2 Joshua Strobl 2023-02-15 23:57:40 UTC
There is nothing Budgie does special here and it renders fine for me? Sounds more like an issue with your connection, Firefox, or Fedora infra itself. Will attach screenshots of it functioning. Not able to reproduce.

Once attempting the testcase I noticed many duplicate alerts: "AVC denial"
Initially I thought it was some bug in SELinux so I disabled it for that session and still ended up getting the same issue.

SE Linux alert

SE Linux alert, AVC is denying some element in FAS.

However any other site works fine and the extenstion of adblock plus installed correctly on firefox.

Comment 8 Joshua Strobl 2023-02-16 09:50:59 UTC
I suspect that these issues wouldn't be related to Budgie Desktop or the spin itself. All we do is launch firefox as we would any other application. SELinux would be performing any policy enforcing separately. I'm not getting this AVC denial issue that you are reporting. Just to be sure, I downloaded the Fedora 38 ISO that was generated by OpenQA last night, and still no issues.

Without logs from journalctl though, no way of knowing for sure.

This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 38 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 38 on 2024-05-21.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '38'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 38 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.
