Description Fedora Release Engineering 2023-02-20 12:07:04 UTC
fakechroot failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f38

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=96635222

For details on the mass rebuild see:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_38_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix fakechroot at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
fakechroot will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 39,
fakechroot will be retired, if it still fails to build.

Comment 1 Jan Pazdziora 2023-02-27 15:48:39 UTC
The shown build does not seem to have logs, so I did a scratch build https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=98071094 and the x86_64 build.log (currently at https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//work/tasks/1197/98071197/build.log) shows

Comment 2 Sergio Basto 2023-02-27 17:10:05 UTC
Hi,
Than you
I know the "buffer overflow detected ***" is weird

we also have some updates on https://github.com/dex4er/fakechroot/pull/104 , I haven't had time yet, to test it.

Comment 3 Sergio Basto 2023-02-28 12:27:30 UTC
seems related with https://github.com/dex4er/fakechroot/issues/107

Comment 4 Fedora Release Engineering 2023-08-16 07:09:58 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 39 development cycle.
Changing version to 39.
