*** Description of problem *** xterm not supporting "Log to File" option in RHEL8. *** Additional information *** 1.Who is the customer behind the request? Account: name (acct #) : Siemens Mobility NV/SA TAM customer: no/yes : No SRM customer: no/yes : No Strategic: no/yes : No 2.What is the nature and description of the request? 3.Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here) In an _already_ running xterm, running _already_ a (probably expensive, long-running) process, there may be occurrences that it is observed by the user that there may be merit in logging the output on the window : * evidence gathering * for off-line evaluation because the output is too fast or too much, or the process will be running for a lengthy time * some programs that do curses and ansi filling of the display. 4.How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here) Start and stop logging of the output presented in an x-term, at a certain time. 5.For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented. I know how to use the feature (as it is enabled in xterm on other distributions (ubuntu), and has been used by me before) * interactive activate and then again deactivate via Ctrl-Left-click + Main Options Menu item ** moving original logfile aside - if existing - and redo the test * specify custom logfile via command line {{-lf filename}} ** start logging immediately via command-line started {{-l}} ** postponed (default behaviour) (logging not (yet) activated) {{+l}} *** start logging interactively via the Main Options Menu 6.Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla? No 7.Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)? No 8.Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input? No sales team is involved. 9.List any affected packages or components. Xterm
