The auth_to_local does not map to any user just not the root user. For example if we need to map alice to bill it does not work. Thanks Sridhar has confirmed that previous "successful" conversion (alice - cindy) was due to previous browser cache.
After browser cache refresh, the alice - cindy no longer work.
