Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description dennis.dumler 2023-03-22 14:24:34 UTC
Description of problem:
Since updating to 6.12.2 Update (RHBA-2023:0668, the VMware Plugin creates a huge amount of (sleeping) user sessions to our vCenter which makes our vCenter unusable in a short amount of time after starting Satellite.
Before updating to 6.12.2, everything was ok. There is no particular action, which triggers this issue. It happens immediately after starting Satellite.
Every single connection only triggers 1 API invocation (seen in vCenter).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Satellite: 6.12.2

How reproducible:
100% (every start of Satellite)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Satellite
2. Don't do anything special
3. vCenter has >100 connections from Satellite which effectively DoS'es it.

Actual results:
Satellite creates a large number of long running connections, which makes our vCenter unusable.

Expected results:
Satellite does not DoS our vCenter

Additional info:
vCenter: Version: 7.0.3.01300 Build-Number: 21290409

I noticed that the foreman-vmware plugin was updated to 3.3.0.20 in RHBA-2023:0668.

Hi, sorry to hear about the issue,
we are also going to try to reproduce it and maybe try to revert https://github.com/fog/fog-vsphere/commit/cce8cc764829f8246f83f576bdea73c8b06662d8
