This is a tracking bug for Change: FontAwesome6
For more details, see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/FontAwesome6

Update the FontAwesome package in Fedora to version 6.x, with a compatibility package for packages still needing 4.x.

If you encounter a bug related to this Change, please do not comment here. Instead create a new bug and set it to block this bug.

Comment 1 Adam Williamson 2023-04-09 16:15:31 UTC
The update somehow left out freeipa, which broke it :( I will add it.

Comment 2 Adam Williamson 2023-04-10 17:14:38 UTC
Even with freeipa's dependency changed, this change breaks it (its webUI no longer shows any icons), because fontawesome4-fonts moved the font files from /usr/share/fonts/fontawesome to /usr/share/fonts/fontawesome4 . FreeIPA expects the former location in various places. I think the move is unnecessary and could be reverted, because none of the files conflicts with anything from fontawesome6-fonts . I've emailed Jerry about this, for now.

Comment 3 Jerry James 2023-07-21 22:03:41 UTC
I believe that all affected packages have been updated for this change. Marking as testable.

Comment 4 Jerry James 2023-08-22 16:06:22 UTC
I haven't had any complaints since comment 2, and the affected packages I interact with frequently don't have any FontAwesome-related breakage, so I am marking this is as code complete.

Comment 5 Aoife Moloney 2023-11-14 18:57:27 UTC
F39 was released on November 7th, so I am closing this tracker. If this Change was not completed, please notify me ASAP.
