Comment 14 c2h52ostardust 2023-04-12 14:57:46 UTC
Gnome shell crashed when I interact with the panel via touchscreen. Problem occours mostly when using X11 as the display server but it also occours when using wayland, albeit less frequently.

I have tried disabling gnome-extensions but that did not help at all

To reproduce it:
1. Login to a user session using x11
2. Enter desktop
3. Interact with the panel

Bug does not occour when in overview, only in desktop. Using a stylus or a regular mouse does not cause the bug to occour.

I can get this crash to occur almost all the time when I use my Wacom drawing tablet. The crash occurs when the tablet pen is close enough to the tablet surface to become "active" or detected.

It happened a couple of times now. On starting the machine, and after logging in, a few seconds of doing anything at all, I'm logged out.

Comment 22 John Webb 2023-05-23 15:18:43 UTC
Happened immediately after logging into a fairly fresh installation of Fedora 38.
Note that the fresh install was triggered by replacing PC and old (MBR formatted only) SSD drive with F37 not recognized as bootable (but was accessible).
To save copied over the entired /home/<<user-id>> subdirectory to new /home/<<user-id>> subdirectory without over-writting existing files.

I tried to switch between Displays in Settings of Gnome 44.3

I have two options there:
Built-in Display
Unknown Display

I dont know why "unknown display" is there. I have single display on my laptop and no external monitor attached.

I tried to turn on Unknow Display and turn off Built-in Display, which resulted in screen going black and 3 seconds later,
the Problem report appeared.

from this page (Linux MotionPro client CentOS 64 bit):
