This still happens in RH 6.0 final. If this is important, the mouse type I selected during installation is "Logitech FirstMouse+/MouseMan+". I found the solution to this. In /etc/rc.d/init.d/gpm, there is a typo on line 9: # pidfile: /var/run/gpmpid It should have a dot: "/var/run/gpm.pid". I tested it and verified that this fixes the problem. Bug 2462 is also a duplicate of this bug. *** Bug 2462 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** For some odd reason, my Linuxconf keeps wanting to start gpm even though it is started already. I have noticed this behaviour in the Red Hat 5.9 Starbuck release, after which I did not use any of the Raw Hide builds, but one of my colleagues has noticed this, who has used the most recent Raw Hide before we obtained Red Hat 6.0 from FTP and committed it to CD. This typo is indeed in the 6.0 distribution. fixed in gpm-1.17.5-4, available in Raw Hide |
