Munin SELinux policy file

Description of problem:

Munin on RedHat 8 is difficult to set up because SELinux interferes with a lot of the processes

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

2.0.72

How reproducible:

When SELinux is enforcing

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to set munin up with SELinux set to enforcing
2. Run audit2allow and enjoy building your own policy

Actual results:

There are major policy issues.

Expected results:

There shouldn't be any major policy issues.

Additional info:

See the attached SELinux policy file. This makes Munin work for the most part.

Comment 2 Zdenek Pytela 2023-04-18 09:24:05 UTC
The munin package can be found in the epel repository. Packages in EPEL are considered high-quality add-on packages that complement the Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The EPEL project is led by community-led volunteers, packages from this project are not provided by Red Hat though and therefore they are not supported.

The selinux-policy package in RHEL is based off of the package from Fedora. It contains modules for software in RHEL as well as for software which is not a part of RHEL (i. e. 3rd party) for the users convenience. However, it does not mean the policy modules are supported by Red Hat.

For these reasons, we need to close this BZ.

Comment 3 Stefan Paetow 2023-04-18 11:46:01 UTC
This is why it was assigned to munin. I'll happily adjust where it should be fixed, but I *saw* it on RHEL 8, which is why it was assigned such.

Reconsider this for Fedora.

Comment 5 Stefan Paetow 2023-04-18 11:48:23 UTC
I'm not allowed to change the product to Fedora EPEL, so if someone else has permissions to do so, do so.

Comment 6 Fedora Release Engineering 2023-08-16 08:09:00 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 39 development cycle.
Changing version to 39.

Comment 7 Aoife Moloney 2024-11-08 10:51:28 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 39 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 39 on 2024-11-26.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '39'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 39 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.
