Description Gurpreet Singh 2023-04-18 02:30:25 UTC
Description of problem:
New Counters for Insights and increased visibility

Current DPDK counters supported in OSP do not provide sufficient information for root cause analysis for connectivity or performance bottlenecks.

Use Case:

Service provider customers require additional packet counters that provide insights into the reason why packets are getting dropped and at what point in the data path. This helps in SP customers in capacity planning and performance optimization for the allocation of CPU cores, memory, and EPA settings for the desired performance without over-provisioning.

Requirement	Details	MVP	Priority	EPIC
New counters for increased visibility for packet drops in the data path:
Tx failure drops
Tx MTU exceeded drops
Ingress / Egress policy drops
Vhost Tx retries
Vhost notification counter
Vhost Tx contention counter
