Description Norman Gaywood 2023-04-27 01:55:18 UTC
With psacct enabled, running lastcomm (and other programs in psacct package) print some information then abort. Example:
# lastcomm
[snip]
readlink root __ 0.00 secs Thu Apr 27 11:49
systemd-coredum S root __ 0.02 secs Thu Apr 27 11:49
*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated
Aborted (core dumped)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install psacct
2. systemctl enable --now psacct.service
3. lastcomm
Actual Results:
lastcomm aborts with:
*** buffer overflow detected ***: terminated
Aborted (core dumped)

Expected Results:
lastcomm should not abort

A bug caused by new FORTIFY_SOURCE_3.
Looking into it.
