Just booting in the morning. It happens from time to time, Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't help, Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or whichever Fx).
The only solution was to do a hard shutdown with the power button, and then reboot.
I have now two gnome-shell application crashes, one at 8:29 (this one) and one at 8:30 (let me know if and how I should report it as well).

attempting to boot lenovo laptop while connected to the Lenovo USB-C4 dock the laptop will not complete the boot process with the lid shut.
In order to successfully boot the laptop it must be powered on with the lid open, either while connected or disconnected from the Lenovo USB-C4 dock.

I don't know how it can be reproduced but I've started to get dual crashes of gnome-shell on first login of the day.
I boot without issue, I login, then the screen becomes black for a few minutes, nothing happens, and then I'm back to the login screen.
When I login again, successfully this time, there are two crash reports waiting for me (this one is the 2nd one).

As written before, two crashes on first login, this is the first crash corresponding to the previously reported 2nd crash.
Perhaps the comparaison gives a hint on what's wrong. Let me know what you need to know more to fix the issue.

As there was a comment on monitor manager, I have a dual screen setup (one internal to the laptop, P1 Gen4, and one external over USB-C).

Comment 21 Eric Lavarde 2023-08-01 06:29:17 UTC
Only booting, this time only crashed once. The problem disappeared for a little while after I had reset my laptop (Lenovo, not sure it's related though), but now it's back.

While trying to login into the Fedora 38 box, I have been facing this issue where system becomes completely unresponsive and screen turns pitch black.
Nothing works except forcing it off by long pressing the power button.

I don't know if it's related, but I have not faced this issue since switching from X to Wayland a week ago.
I can log in just fine even if the laptop lid is closed while being connected to an external monitor via HDMI.
