Description John Tam 2023-05-08 13:35:02 UTC
After upgrading to F38, my HP Deskjet 2540 has stopped working. It is not a mechanical problem because I can connect it to a different computer, a Mac, and it still prints normally, as it did in F37. I connect to the printer using its USB cable.

In the Print Queue dialog, it shows this error: "Processing - not connected?"

In the Printer Properties dialog, under Printer State, it says:
"Processing - cfFilterChain: ghostscript (PID 24792) exited with no errors."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both cups and hplip using dnf. I have also deleted and readded the printer using the recommended HP drivers.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Print any document.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
The printer does nothing, all jobs get stuck in the print queue with the above mentioned errors.

Expected Results:
The printer should have printed the document.

Standard, up to date F38 with Cinnamon desktop. However I have tried under KDE and the problem persists.

Hi John,

thank you for reporting the issue!

IMO your printer supports driverless printing via USB, so it is affected by the change https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/IPPUSBasPrintScanDependency - please look into the page how to proceed.

If you experience further problems, do let me know.
