Description wakamyth 2023-05-16 02:56:50 UTC
By default Firefox respect system proxy. It doesn't work anymore.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to Firefox network settings and choose `Use system proxy settings`.
2. Go to Gnome network settings and set up http proxy.
3. Try browsing with Firefox.
Actual Results:
The connection has timed out.

Expected Results:
The request should go through proxy and the website should display.

The binary build downloaded from official site works fine. The build from Fedora repo doesn't work.

I can confirm by checking router firewall logs that firefox sends request directly to target website, ignoring system proxy settings.

It started since version 111 if I remember correctly.

Changing Firefox proxy settings to `Manual` makes Firefox go through proxy.

Can you test Mozilla binaries? (and you may create a new clean profile for testing too).

Thanks.

I downloaded official 113.0.1 build from Mozilla site.

I tested Mozilla binary with WAYLAND backend and created empty new profile.

It works as intended. All traffic goes through system proxy.

A regression from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2177806 ?
Can you test this build? https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=2172968

I removed firefox from system then installed rpm package.

Yes version 111 works.

Comment 5 Martin Stransky 2023-05-19 11:04:19 UTC
Okay, we should revert that then.

Comment 6 Martin Stransky 2023-05-19 11:08:59 UTC
Okay, we should revert that then. Added to 113.0.1-3 builds.
