Description Dora O’Fee 2023-05-29 02:46:58 UTC
Please branch and build apr in epel8

If you do not wish to maintain apr in epel8,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package;
please add the epel-packagers-sig group through
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/<package>/addgroup
and grant it commit access, or collaborator access on epel* branches.

Comment 1 Bojan Smojver 2023-05-29 02:53:24 UTC
This package will be part of RHEL/CentOS, so no need to do this.

Comment 2 Dora O’Fee 2023-05-29 03:22:13 UTC
RHEL8 currently has 1.6.3, which is one minor version behind. Smojver, are you suggesting an update is upcoming on the part of RHEL? If not, I’m happy to co-maintain the package for EPEL and provide the up-to-date version on RHEL8.

Comment 3 Bojan Smojver 2023-05-29 03:23:55 UTC
I'm not suggesting that. What I'm saying is that packages are normally not duplicated in EPEL when they exist in the distro.

Comment 4 Bojan Smojver 2023-05-29 03:28:08 UTC
BTW, you can always spin up newer versions in copr, if you really want them.

Comment 5 Dora O’Fee 2023-05-29 04:04:56 UTC
Many thanks for the pointer!

Comment 6 Dora O’Fee 2023-05-31 09:27:33 UTC
For those who may similarly be looking for APR 1.7 as an RPM on RHEL8 and the like, it’s now available in copr: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/tkbcopr/apr17/
