Comment 3 Ben Beasley 2023-06-20 19:08:51 UTC
Upstream says in https://github.com/tiangolo/fastapi/releases/tag/0.100.0-beta1:

-----

Features

✨ Beta support for Pydantic version 2 ✨

The internals of Pydantic v2 were rewritten in Rust and it's currently available in beta.

[...]

This version of FastAPI still supports Pydantic v1.

This means that you can install the new Pydantic v2, and if something fails, you can install Pydantic v1 while you fix any problems you might have, but having the latest FastAPI.

-----

I won’t be packaging a pre-release, but I will certainly want to test this out in a PR when I get a chance–probably after the Python 3.12 side tag is merged.

I do need to get FastAPI updated to 0.97.0. I’ll do that as soon as I have a chance.

Comment 6 Ben Beasley 2023-07-12 20:17:40 UTC
Although this bug doesn’t reflect it, FastAPI 0.100.0 has been released. It is blocked on email-validator 2.0, bug 2203865; I am allowing one more week for maintainer feedback before merging https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-email-validator/pull-request/1.

Because of the necessary major-version upgrade of the email-validator dependency, FastAPI will remain at 0.99.0 in F38.
