A vulnerability was found in copy_from_user in 64-bit versions of the Linux kernel. This flaw allows a local attacker to bypass the "access_ok" sanity check and pass a kernel pointer to copy_from_user(), resulting in kernel data leaking.

This issue was fixed upstream in kernel version 5.7-rc1. The kernel packages as shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 were previously updated to a version that contains the fix via the following errata: kernel in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2022:1988 kernel-rt in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2022:1975 |
