Description GroovieMan 2023-07-10 19:36:35 UTC
That was a real surprise, F36 did it well it auto-created a usable printer.
F38 create an entry with a wrong driver: HP Deskjet T920 Postscript.

So when you want to print out something, lots of pages with txt Formated PDF instructions are being printed

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.connect a Epson Inkjet Printer ET2710 via USB with your computer
2.great, an auto-config is created
3.the test page is beeing create with 8 pages of postsript
Actual Results:
Some Epson Inktank will not work

Expected Results:
a nice auto conf of the printer (like in F36 oder 37)

Hi,

thank you for reporting the issue!

Do you have the package epson-inkjet-printer-escpr installed? It provides the classic driver for your printer, so once it is is installed, auto-configuration is supposed to find it.

Either way, the printer is from 2018 (at least its manual is dated to the year), so I would guess it supports IPP-over-USB, which enables autodiscovery and autoconfiguration without any drivers with help of mDNS and IPP. Do you have the package ipp-usb installed?

Salut Zdenek,

1) no the pson-inkjet-printer-escpr package was not installed, thank you for that hint
2) the printer is located in my other office, so i guess that the above mentioned package was installed on my previous F37 when i was surprised how easy it is to use a new printer

Thank you for your help!
