Description Karl 2023-07-16 18:21:50 UTC
For reasons I have not been able to pin down, the "click" function on the touchpad on my Dell Precision 5570 will occasionally (up to several times a day) stop working, meaning I am unable to click on anything until it resets itself. This reset happens probably 15 or 20 seconds later.

If I plug in a USB mouse, clicking responds fine, even if the touchpad click is not working at the time; it's only the touchpad itself that doesn't click.

The click malfunction does not affect cursor movement: even if the clicking doesn't work, moving the cursor with the touchpad does.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
I haven't pinned down a sequence that makes it happen reliably. I notice it when typing, when using the Web browser, when playing games...there's no clear correlation.
Actual Results:
Pressing the touchpad doesn't do anything during the interval od 15-20 seconds.

Expected Results:
Pressing the touchpad is treated as a mouse click.

This has been happening for a while---I have had this particular computer for about a year, so it dates back to at least Fedora 36, probably earlier.
