Description bitchecker 2023-07-31 21:50:55 UTC
On my fedora workstation, running the latest stable available kernel (6.4.6-200.fc38.x86_64) the r8169 driver for realtek Ethernet cards doesn't work properly.
During the day, at some random point after about 10h of uptime, the workstation became completely offline also if the cable is connected and the connection is detected properly. Only reboot the workstation restores the connection.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Connect a realtek card using the r8169 driver to the network
2.Keep it running for at least 10/15h
3.Check if the workstation became offline
Actual Results:
The workstation is offline and only a reboot can solve.

Expected Results:
The workstation continue to work as usually.

UPDATE:
it seems that running "ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg off" make connections stable again.
