We're planning an upgrade of our RHEL8 idM server. Currently, this is a single instance without any replicas. The documentation states that one can generate SIDs as an Administrator on another idM replica.

Is it a requirement to have a replica environment before planning to upgrade the idM to RHEL9?

Yes, two servers are required. The SME answer:

"[w]e do not support in-place upgrade between major RHEL versions.
It means in order to upgrade from RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 one needs to
introduce RHEL 9 server (replica) to existing topology (RHEL 8 server).

That implies you need, at least temporarily, two servers."
