Description John Mev 2023-10-14 09:24:39 UTC
Description of problem:
Install Compiz and dependancies on Rocky 9

as at bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2153833

It works normally fine

But it shuts down everytime I close a window and I have to relaunch it with the Compiz-fusion icon of the desktop

It would be fine to fix this for normal use
Thank

Hi
just upgrade to Rocky 9.4. Same issue is already here : WM shuts down everytime an app is turned off.

Need something else ?

Here what I get when I launch Compiz from terminal, then open a window with some app , and close this window:

compiz (core) - Warn: No XI2 extension
compiz (core) - Error: Plugin 'text' not loaded.

compiz (thumbnail) - Warn: No compatible text plugin found.

Compiz still does not work but it seems to be some progress:

when I start fusion-icon & in a terminal or with the applet, I get this message:

* Setting window manager to Compiz
 ... executing: compiz ccp --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints --indirect-rendering --loose-binding

(fusion-icon:7482): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 09:13:24.647: gdk_window_thaw_toplevel_updates: assertion 'window->update_and_descendants_freeze_count > 0' failed
compiz (core) - Warn: No XI2 extension
compiz (core) - Fatal: glXCreateContext failed
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0

I have been using Compiz with Fedora for decades and never got any issue.

Is this one fixable ? Yx
