Description Michael Schwendt 2000-12-20 18:30:21 UTC
I'm using the KDE2 packages from Raw Hide with a Red Hat Linux 7.0
installation. Hope this is okay.

When starting kdm, some part of KDE2 creates a directory /.kde in the
filesystem root and puts a few directories and a socket link in there:
//.kde/socket-myhostname.mydomain -> /tmp/ksocket-root/

I doubt that /.kde is the correct place for those files. Since standard
output mentions //.kde/, most likely some HOME path component is missing
there. Owner of the files is root.root.

Gone with upgrade to Rawhide's kde 2.0.20010101-1 (incl. XFree86 4.0.2-0.2)
packages.
