Description Michael J Gruber 2024-04-03 08:26:15 UTC
LANG=C dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=40
...
Error:
Problem: package emacs-nox-1:29.3-1.fc39.x86_64 from @System requires emacs-common = 1:29.3-1.fc39, but none of the providers can be installed
  - emacs-common-1:29.3-1.fc39.x86_64 from @System does not belong to a distupgrade repository
  - problem with installed package emacs-nox-1:29.3-1.fc39.x86_64

This is with the following emacs packages on an up-to-date F39 workstation install:
emacs.x86_64 1:29.3-1.fc39 @updates
emacs-common.x86_64 1:29.3-1.fc39 @updates
emacs-filesystem.noarch 1:29.3-1.fc39 @updates
emacs-notmuch.noarch 0.38-1.fc39 @fedora
emacs-nox.x86_64 1:29.3-1.fc39 @updates

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=40
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Fails

Expected Results:
Works (possibly downgrading emacs if necessary)

I see problems around emacs-nox/emacs-n* also in eln builds in copr etc. It seems that the renaming of that package did not quite end up in all "metadata places" where it should.
