EL7 goes EOL in less than 60 days. Is there really a use-case for this? EPEL will die along with the CentOS/RHEL repos for 7 so even if you get this initial version it helps you for less than 2 months before you're stuck. Eh, got dates mixed up so it's slightly over 60 days, but sentiment is the same. I tried to describe the use-case above: Having a valkey package in EPEL 8 that still builds on 7 eases own rebuilds after EPEL 7 is EOL, but also when being currently stuck on RHEL 7, it allows to migrate already now from redis to valkey and don't have to worry anymore when performing an inline upgrade from RHEL 7 to 8 later. In case you disagree, feel free to close this report accordingly. Looks like it only requires a couple of minor tweaks to the spec to build so when I do the next batch of updates for some fixes based on feedback in the change proposal I'll branch and build it for EPEL7. Description of problem: Please branch and build valkey for EPEL 7. Yes, RHEL/CentOS 7 is close to EOL (2024-06-30), however for these going to RHEL 7 with ELS, it allows smoother handling (rebuild from EPEL 8 for 7 themself once EPEL 7 reached EOL, but also better working migration path for inline upgrades from RHEL 7 to 8). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): valkey-7.2.5-1.el8 Actual results: No valkey-7.2.5-1.el7 Expected results: valkey-7.2.5-1.el7 or better ;-) Additional info: %{version_no_tilde} doesn't seem to work for EPEL 7, however the actual build (when defining %{version_no_tilde} manually to 7.2.5 in the spec file as a workaround).
