Comment 6 Ben Beasley 2024-05-06 16:27:49 UTC
If the dependency on flate2/zlib-ng will not be patched out, then this needs rust-libz-ng-sys, bug 2279208, and then https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rust-flate2/pull-request/2.

It also asks for the latest rust-zstd: bug 2271892. I expect that rust-zstd-sys and rust-zstd-safe need to be updated at the same time, bug 2271895, bug 2271893.

Comment 9 Fabio Valentini 2024-05-17 13:25:03 UTC
For the record: I am currently wary of updating the zip crate to version >= 1.0.0.

The v1 branch is maintained by different people than previous versions (with the hand-off being handled ... in a weird way, so soon after the xz debacle). They also seem to not particularly care about compatibility promises, pushing an API breaking change in v1.2.0+ that will not be fixed.

Maybe it would be better to stick with v0.6 for now, and relax dependencies of things that depend on zip ^1 to ">=0.6,<2" for now. I think the API is mostly compatible between v0.6 and v1, so this should work in most cases.
