Description of problem:

on 4.5 beta system with and intel audio sound card may panic on boot.
Specifically, i have model 82801G(ICH7) on a new kentsfield system.

Also worth noting is that no sound comes out of the box on either U4 or U5 with
the patch mentioned in comment #1. This patch is being proposed as a temporary
solution. Upstream kernles produce sound, but this would require a more
extensive backport to get working properly.

This system booted fine on U4, while U5 panics the system on boot.

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red
Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release.  Product Management has requested
further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products.  This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update
release.
