CVE-2024-35965 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth L2CAP implementation, caused by inadequate input length validation in the setsockopt function. This flaw allows overly large user-provided data to be copied into kernel memory, potentially leading to buffer overflows, system instability, or privilege escalation. The issue has been fixed by adding proper checks to ensure data size is within acceptable limits. Users should update their Linux kernel to the patched version to mitigate this risk.

Comment 5 Alex 2024-06-09 15:43:46 UTC
The result of automatic check (that is developed by Alexander Larkin) for this CVE-2024-35965 is: CHECK	Maybe valid. Check manually. with impact MODERATE (that is approximation based on flags REMOTE SIMPLEFIX NETWORK IMPROVEONLY ; these flags parsed automatically based on patche data). Such automatic check happens only for Low/Moderates (and only when not from reporter, but parsing already existing CVE). Highs always checked manually (I check it myself and then we check it again in Remediation team). In rare cases some of the Moderates could be increased to High later.
