A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's hwmon driver in the w83791d module where the driver performs a read operation, which can result in a NULL pointer dereference. This occurs due to an unnecessary field (lm75[]) that is no longer needed after updates to device handling functions, the driver could attempt to access a NULL pointer, leading to potential system crashes.

The result of automatic check (that is developed by Alexander Larkin) for this CVE-2021-47386 is: CHECK Maybe valid. Check manually. with impact MODERATE (that is approximation based on flags NULLPTR SIMPLEFIX ; these flags parsed automatically based on patche data). Such automatic check happens only for Low/Moderates (and only when not from reporter, but parsing already existing CVE).
