Created kernel tracking bugs for this issue: Affects: fedora-all [bug 2284530] The result of automatic check (that is developed by Alexander Larkin) for this CVE-2024-36912 is: CHECK Maybe valid. Check manually. with impact LOW (that is an approximation based on flags LEAK ; these flags parsed automatically based on patch data). Such automatic check happens only for Low/Moderates (and only when not from reporter, but parsing already existing CVE). Highs always checked manually (I check it myself and then we check it again in Remediation team). In rare cases some of the Moderates could be increased to High later. This fix addresses a subtle but important issue in the Hyper-V vmbus driver. By properly tracking the decrypted state in vmbus_gpadl, the kernel avoids inconsistent memory handling and potential security risks when working with shared guest/host memory. Assigning CVE-2024-36912 highlights the security impact, and applying the upstream patch is important for Linux systems running on Hyper-V, especially in virtualized and cloud environments. https://basketballstars2026.io |
