This sounds like issues with the drivers themselves. Assigning to the kernel. I don't know if this is the same bug, but I'm having a problem with bad sound with an AWE 64 PNP. Basically, it sounds like the speaker is underwater. I had this problem with stock 6.2 IIRC, but the updated kernel fixed it. With Red Hat 7.0, its back. I have encountered this on my via686a sound and discovered that switching from the regular kernel sound drivers to the ALSA (www.alsa-project.org) drivers gets rid of the sound artifacts. The ALSA drivers have to be manually compiled and require some modules.conf editing but it is all well documented. I'm not sure what is missing in the regular kernel sound drivers that is fixed in the ALSA ones. Thanks for the bug report. However, Red Hat no longer maintains this version of the product. Please upgrade to the latest version and open a new bug if the problem persists. The Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) maintains some older releases, and if you believe this bug is interesting to them, please report the problem in the bug tracker at: http://bugzilla.fedora.us/ |
