I am aware of this, noticed it myself. It really sucks that OSM disabled HTTP Basic Auth, this makes client development a lot more complicated. (Usage too, because you are now forced to use a browser to log in.) Also hits all the simple CLI clients, revert scripts, etc. But alas, there is basically zero chance that they are going to reverse their stance on this. Grrr… I am kinda stuck waiting for Merkaartor upstream here. I could try pushing a snapshot from the experimental oauth2 branch. See also: https://github.com/openstreetmap/operations/issues/867#issuecomment-2241876325 – feel free to add your complaint or to give a like to mine, but I doubt it will change anything, unfortunately. Upstream has now tagged a release 0.20.0 that should fix this, I am working on packaging it now.
