Description Philip Sherman 2007-02-26 01:24:54 UTC
Description of problem: Suspend mode does not turn off ATI Radeon 9000 video
circuitry. This is a known problem, particularly with IBM (Lenovo) Thinkpads.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): N/A

How reproducible: 100% failure rate

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press Fn-F4 (suspend key)

Actual results: System suspends. Power consumption drops to ~12w/hr

Expected results: System suspends. Power consumption drops to ~0.6w/hr

Additional info:
Problem resolved in FC6 by loading radeonfb module. Radeonfb also significantly
improves video performance, measured by glxgears frame rate.

Recommendations:
1. Provide radeonfb module as supplemental module.
2. Provide kernel-devel rpm to allow users to generate proprietary (fglrx) ATI
driver.

Fixed in RHEL6, not going to be fixed in RHEL5.
