Description Simon Andrews 2007-03-02 13:48:23 UTC
Description of problem:

After the last xorg-server update I can't switch to any of the console terminals
(F1-F6). Gdm is still running OK, but each console just shows an (inactive)
copy of the gdm login screen with a broken line of green pixels across it.
Restarting X and gdm doesn't help.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-server-Xorg.i386 1.1.1-47.6.fc6
xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.6.3-1.fc6

How reproducible:
Always (on this system at least)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start in runlevel 5
2. Try to switch to a console terminal

Actual results:

Console does not appear. Gdm login is still visible but corrupted. F7 restores
the active and working Gdm login.

Expected results:
Console terminal appears.

Additional info:
I think (though I can't be absolutely sure) that this was working after the last
xserver update (Jan 10 05:59:50 Updated: xorg-x11-server-Xorg.i386
1.1.1-47.4.fc6), so it might be something which has changed in the latest version?

Other than this the machine is running OK. Ssh logins work just fine as do
local graphical logins.

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided
above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful
in our diagnosis of this issue.

Please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log
file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file
attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

Could you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf whatsoever and
let X11 autodetect your display and video card? Attach to this bug
/var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt as well, please.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

I installed the xorg-x11-server-Xorg 1.1.1-47.7 yesterday and everything seems
to be working again. All the consoles are back to normal.

OK, closing per reporter's information. Thanks for the cooperation.
