I have a raspberry pi and performed a new install using the Fedora-Workstation-41-1.4.aarch64.raw.xz image on an SD card. The Pi has a touch screen display.

The system boots and works very well as long as I have an external keyboard, but is crippled with the on-screen keyboard.

Specifically, on the login page to enter the password it is not possible to use the on-screen keyboard thus login is impossible without the external keyboard.

Although a severe security risk, it is possible to bypass this by turning on auto login for the user.

Secondly, if already logged in and the screen blanks and locks, the touch screen itself appears to be deactivated. No amount of effort will even bring up the password page to attempt to unlock the screen.

I find there is no way possible to get past the lock screen except a full hard power off then reboot, or once again needing an external keyboard. A sudden power off on a running system risks file system corruption and/or data loss.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install fedora 41 on a raspberry pi with touch screen
2.boot
3.attempt to login with the touch screen only. It is impossible without an external keyboard.
4. bypass the login step with setting the user to auto login.
5. after being able to access the running system, allow the display to blank and lock the screen. The result: The touch screen is disabled and cannot be unlocked without an external keyboard or a hard power off and restart.

Actual Results:
On-screen keyboard is not accessible to allow login
Touch screen is disabled when the screen blanks and locks.

Expected Results:
A device using a touch screen should be able to allow login from a cold boot, or when waking up from a sleep, and the on-screen keyboard must be available in both cases.

I have seen no activity on  this bug for the past 3+ months.
Without use of the touch screen fedora is useless on this device so I have been forced to revert to RaspiOS or Ubuntu in the meantime.

Automatic login and NEVER allowing the screen to blank or lock is the only workaround I have found and that becomes a significant power draw on batteries for my go-box.

This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 41 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 41 on 2025-12-15.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer

Fedora Linux 41 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2025-12-15.

Fedora Linux 41 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
