Description Kaleb KEITHLEY 2024-11-13 15:15:55 UTC
Please branch and build xorg-x11-server in epel10.

If you do not wish to maintain xorg-x11-server in epel10,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package;
please add the epel-packagers-sig group through
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/xorg-x11-server/addgroup
and grant it commit access, or collaborator access on epel* branches.

Comment 1 Romain Geissler 2024-11-13 15:20:22 UTC
I don't think xorg-* packages are going back into RHEL 10/CentOS 10, now it is Wayland only. See https://github.com/fedora-eln/eln/issues/204 for the removal of xorg package needs for test purposes.

Comment 2 Olivier Fourdan 2024-11-13 15:30:55 UTC
I am not weighing in the request, I am just wondering why exactly this is a blocker for bug 2308780 ?

Comment 3 Yaakov Selkowitz 2024-11-13 17:55:56 UTC
@kkeithle at this point the only justifiable reason for including xorg-x11-server in EPEL 10 would be to support a desktop that has yet to be converted to Wayland, and I'm not sure if anyone is going to step up at this point and agree to support it for another 10 years in EPEL. Any BuildRequires on xorg-x11-server-Xvfb/xvfb-run should be replaced by xwayland-run/xwfb-run as indicated in the aforementioned https://github.com/fedora-eln/eln/issues/204, and this applies equally to rawhide as well, so this need not be an EPEL-specific change.
